Malabar Trading - a Genuine Dorset Treasure

I wanted to share with you this inspiring shop in Bridport.

Tucked away in a wonderful Dorset town you can find Malabar Trading. Actually the town itself is a bit of a voyage of discovery.

Whilst on a magical weekend with friends, we went exploring on Saturday and came away with tablecloths, throws, cushions and all sorts to enjoy in the garden this gorgeous summer.

It's a total delight and made even more so for being, like us, a genuine Indie Shop!

With their regular trips abroad to discover high quality artisan craftspeople, we knew that it is something special we had found there.

Our world could be so much kinder and warm hearted and it is traders like these guys who add a little  bit more to that end. My home is my sanctuary and I have worked hard to create a healing space there, but I don't want to buy all my stuff from big stores thank you very much,

Enter Malabar Trading-  Ethically sourced, beautifully finished, unusual pieces all of them, and my search is rewarded,

If you want to know more I have made a link to their blog and on line shop  so explore away - you might even find something to buy!

Let them tell their tale, I have taken this quote from their own site.

"The Malabar Trading shop opened in 2001 in the vibrant market town of Bridport in Dorset. The aim has always been to provide personally selected, hand crafted items from around the world. We stock items of the finest quality which display the great craft and skill of the world`s textile artisans. It has taken many years to find suppliers who can provide products of the highest quality whilst maintaining their ethical standards."

If you would like to visit them here is their address

Malabar Trading, 33 South St, Bridport, Dorset DT6 3NY

PS this is not an advert - honest!
I genuinely just loved the idea of what they have created.

So, Good Luck Malabar Trading may you trade for ever!

Sue Roe Artist and Caligrapher

Sue Roe is a wonderful artist we met through the shop when she was looking for a framer for her work. Since then we have grown to know her style and regularly enjoy her work as she brings it in to frame.
Her home is her studio and her studio is home, which is local in south west London and she often exhibits in collectives.
Currently you can see her work with KAOS (Kingston Artists Open Studios)
You will find her at 57 Cobham Road, KT1 3AE along with Ingrid Saag, Richard Eastwood and Deborah Lanyon. Come and say hello. Tea, Coffee, and cake supplied.

I have chosen some examples to share with you

You can also find her work on InkyFrame Etsy

ENJOY!
