Laurence Dingley - Painter

Laurence Dingley - Painter

Magdalen Bridge Oxford
I thought I would introduce you to Laurence Dingley.
He is a friend of mine since way back in our youth (and I mean our youth, I am talking Primary School days when his sisters and I used to plan and execute extraordinary fundraising events in our exclusive branch of the PDSA - HQ the boat shed in their garden!)

Painter since for ever he spent some time as my guest in Southern Spain where he produced wonderful work of the area and in particular my courtyard!
From my Courtyard in Spain!

So about the man ....
Laurence was born in '59 and grew up in the Warwickshire countryside. He always works as they say "en plein aire" ( outside to the likes of you and me!) taking advantage of the natural light and shade the sun creates rather than relying heavily on studio work. What does this mean? Well that he can be found lugging his painting kit around the world's landscape during the more clement months of the year!

He studied at Reading University graduating in 1983. (same place as the Chalk Paint™ Queen herself, Annie Sloan, come to think of it!)

Meet Daisy  and her friend when they were small.

Here is a little video of Laurence you might like to have a look at

Sadly we don't have any of his work in the shop but we do stock greeting cards that he has had printed of his work. They are gorgeous even if I say it myself!

Laurence has work on permanent exhibition at the following galleries
Montpellier Gallery Stratford upon Avon
Tryon Rowntree Gallery, Bury St London
Waterside Gallery St Ives Cornwall
Clapper Yard Gallery Wadebridge
Loquens Gallery Cheltenham

I hope  you enjoy exploring his work as much as I do visiting his studio in South Warwickshire.

Regards Jane
